Aptamil Comfort

Inspired by over 120 years of NUTRICIA’s expertise in early life science and 40 years of pioneering research, our team has developed Aptamil® Comfort;  nutritionally complete* and specially tailored for the dietary management of colic and constipation.

If you think your baby has colic or constipation, speak to a healthcare professional for advice. This product must be used under medical supervision.

What's in Aptamil® Comfort?

Aptamil Comfort is nutritionally complete*  and contains  our blend of Galacto- and Fructo-oligosaccharides (GOS/FOS), reduced lactose, partially hydrolysed protein and a fat blend with beta- palmitate.

*Suitable as the sole source of nutriton from birth to 6 months  or as part of a weaning diet from 6 months to 1 year.

What is colic?

As babies' digestive systems are developing, they may experience an altered gut flora or reduced ability to digest lactose or protein. This discomfort may cause colic: intense & inconsolable crying episodes that last several hours with flushed face, clenched fists and legs pulled up to the chest.

What is constipation?

Constipation usually involves your baby passing abnormally delayed, infrequent, hard or dry stools, accompanied by pain and straining. You may also notice they have a poor appetite and a lack of energy.

Frequently asked questions

Because Aptamil Comfort is slightly thickened with starch to reduce air intake when swallowing, you should change your baby’s teat to a variable-flow teat, or a single-hole teat with a medium or fast flow.

It is completely normal for your baby’s stools to change when you switch to Aptamil Comfort. You may find they are softer, looser, lighter, or sometimes even green while their digestive system adjusts to the new formula.

This varies from child to child, but generally if after two weeks you see no effect, you should talk to your health visitor or GP about alternative options.

Your baby's colic symptoms should have subsided by six months of age. At this stage you may want to think about moving onto a milk tailored to complement a weaning diet – such as Aptamil Follow On Milk. If the symptoms persist, you should speak with your health visitor, pharmacist or GP.

No, like our core range of milks, Aptamil Comfort is available in UK pharmacies and supermarkets. However, you should always have your child’s colic symptoms looked at by your health visitor, pharmacist or GP before deciding on a treatment.
