Your baby's Aptamil® formula journey
Stage 2: You are here
Did you know that follow on milks help support a weaning diet?
At 6 months your baby may be trying lots of new things, from sitting up, to using a sippy cup and trying solids. Each new experience can help them build resilience and practise skills they’ll use later in life.
Between 6-12 months milk remains an important part of their diet, especially during weaning.
They still need 500-600ml of breast milk or formula milk a day
If you use formula milk, you could try stage 2 follow on milk which contains vitamin D to help support the normal function of the immune system.
After six months your baby has an increased nutritional need for iron.*
*Based on UK Reference Nutrient Intakes for iron
Iron helps support normal cognitive development, making iron-rich foods an important part of their weaning diet.

Important notice
Breastfeeding is best for babies. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. Follow-on milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet and should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months. We advise that all formula milks including the decision to start weaning should be made on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on baby’s individual needs.
Do not use if your baby has been diagnosed with a cow's milk allergy.
Use Growing Up milk as part of a varied balanced diet from 1 year.
